TROUBLESHOOTING "AERO" IN "WINDOWS 7"


If you find that "Aero Snap", "Aero Shake" and "Aero Peek" will not work in your computer, here is a problem resolution procedure for you to follow:


REQUIREMENT 0: Your computer hardware must support Aero.

REQUIREMENT 1:

In "Personalization", an "Aero Theme" must be selected.


It can be one that you have created for yourself by modifying one of the Aero Themes that originally was provided with your copy of Windows or one that you downloaded from the Microsoft Web site.


Steps for "Requirement 1":

Right click on the Desktop.

Click on "Personalize" on the pop-up utility menu.

Click on a "Theme" in "Aero Themes" section or one that you know is a modified Aero theme in the "My Themes" section.






REQUIREMENT 2:

In "Services.msc", "Desktop Window Manager" has to be "Started" (and "Automatic").


Steps for "Requirement 2":

To get to the "Services" window:

Click on the "Start Button".

Type "services.msc" into the "Search" box.

Press the <Enter> key of the keyboard.

Right click on "Desktop Windows Manager".

Click on "Properties" on the popup utility menu.

Click on the "Start" button to start the "Desktop Window Session Manager" services.




REQUIREMENT 3:

In "Services.msc", "Themes" has to be "Started" (and "Automatic").



In "Visual Effects" of "Performance Options":



The following items have to be "checked":


Enable Aero Peek (REQUIREMENT 4)

Enable desktop composition (REQUIREMENT 5)

and

Use visual styles on windows and buttons (REQUIREMENT 6).
